It’s Leeds’ favourite surf punks, X Ray Cat Trio, play soul-shattering songs about love, hate, murder and monsters. Wearing their influences on their sleeves, it’s gloriously clear they draw faithfully from the authentic stylings of Nasty 50’s Rockabilly, gritty 60’s Garage and trashy 70’s Punk Rock.

Deptford Northern Soul Club

Deptford Northern Soul Club

Deptford Northern Soul Club at McChuills, Sunday 13th July.

“Undeniably at the forefront of a northern soul revival” Vogue

“An authority on the genre’s renaissance in the club world” Time Out

“Deptford Northern Soul Club have emerged as the new faces of Northern Soul.” Yuck

“By recontextualising Northern Soul in a modern context, they empower the genre to continuously evolve, imparting new meaning to younger, perhaps previously unaware audiences” Pilot Magazine

DNSC have emerged as the new face of Northern Soul, bringing the movement back into the conversation of modern dance music. With a welcoming and inclusive community and a unique energetic dance-oriented feel, their nights are not what you’d expect from a typical Northern Soul night and allow people to forge their own experience with the genre.

After bringing their musical heritage to the forefront with their debut DJ set at Deptford’s Bunker Club 9 years ago, they have since played with bands like Idles and Wolf Alice and have taken their happening club night around the UK, performing at the likes of Glastonbury, Green Man Festival and Camp Bestival, with regular residencies at London’s Earth and Moth Club and YES in Manchester.

Alongside their popular club nights, Will and Lewis run a modern reissue label, DNSC Records (DNSC.r) in association with PIAS, enabling soul lovers to experience Northern Soul tracks as they were meant to be heard. Just to mention a few names they have put to wax: Sebastian Williams, The Soul Stirrers, Spinners, Candi Staton, Doris Willingham, Jackie Wilson, The Delreys Incorporated, Garnet Mimms and Doris & Kelley...

Make no mistake, this pair know their stuff and know how to move a dancefloor.
