McChuills & Regular Music present

RÓIS

McChuills, Glasgow

Wednesday 29th October

Every so often (but on a regular basis) we have someone playing here that is a household name not long after and folk can’t believe they saw them in a venue this size? You know the ones; Wet Leg, The Last Dinner Party, English Teacher, Catfish and the Bottlemen etc…

Well, here’s the next one. Guaranteed…

RÓIS is a composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic artist from Fermanagh, whose songs breathe new life into a forgotten Ireland. Blending elements of folk, sean-nós, electronics, and jazz harmony, RÓIS’ genre-bending sound transports listeners to a different realm.

Her ethereal voice has been compared to the likes of Meredith Monk, Björk and Hatis Noit. It is a vocal style rooted in traditional sean-nós singing, as she summons the dead and the forgotten, with ancient ‘keening songs’ while the beats meld folk with gothic, 4AD-era soundscapes unmatched since the glory days of This Mortal Coil.

With shapeshifting sets, no two performances are ever the same. Expect twists and turns of tempo and genre, and moments of sheer magic, as she conducts the energy of the room, resulting in an extraordinary audio-visual experience, where myths and synths meld together to create music that is both ancient and pioneering.

Make no mistake, RÓIS is going to be absolutely massive and we could not be more buzzing about working with our friends at Regular Music to bring her to play here in McChuills. This is gig of the year stuff. You really should join us. 🙏🏻
